Police are investigating the cause of a crash between a car and a logging truck on State Highway 30, at the intersection of Mill Road, in the Eastern Bay of Plenty.

Emergency services were called to the intersection about 3pm yesterday.

The blue station wagon sustained extensive damage to its front.

1XX reports three people, two adults and a baby, were taken to Whakatane Hospital with moderate injuries.

The truck driver is understood to be shaken but ok.

The crash delayed traffic for a short time as police worked to clear the scene.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
