Three people are being treated for minor injuries following a two car crash in the Waioeka Gorge, near Opotiki.

The two vehicles crashed in the gorge, near Graham's Bridge, shortly before 9am.

Police, firefighters and St John Paramedics are at the scene.

Both vehicles sustained significant damage and are being towed from the scene.

The cause of the accident is being investigated.
