Katikati concert a success

Katikati's first twilight concert of the 2015 summer series didn't fail on its promise to deliver an unforgettable night of entertainment, according to organisers.

Spokesperson Jenni Wilson says around 1400 people attended the event at Haiku Reserve on Saturday night.

The Tina Cross Band gets the crowd moving.

'It was relaxed, really hot and sunny, people were there two hours before the gate opened and they just rolled in and had a great time,” says Jenni. 'In fact some didn't want to leave.”

Concert-goers were entertained by performances from the Tina Cross Band and 14-year-old Katikati performer Caitlin Merriman - the night's supporting act.

Tina, along with keyboardist Barbara Griffin, guitarist Neil Watson and two of New Zealand's finest singers, Leon Wharekura and Sharon Emirali, offered music from the 1960s to the present day.

Katikati's first twilight concert of the 2015 summer series has been hailed a success, with many arriving before the gates opened.

The concert series continues on January 24 and February 14. If rain intervenes, the events will be rescheduled for the next night.

BYO alcohol is permitted and people are encouraged to bring chairs and picnics. Gates open at 5pm and the show starts at 6pm.

Gate tickets cost $20 each, or a season pass costs $45 from Katikati information Centre. There's free entry for Children under 15 with an adult.
