Swimmers are getting ready to hit the water today as they take part in the annual Bridge to Bridge swim in Tauranga Harbour today.

The annual Murray Dingle Memorial Bridge to Bridge swim – 1500m swim from Sebel Trinity Hotel to the railway bridge by Harbourside Restaurant – is a sure sign summer in here in Tauranga.

People will be taking part in the highly competitive Bridge to Bridge swim today.

Shorebreak Aquatics event manager Sheryl McLay says a late flurry of people are expected to enter the race today.

The Bridge to Bridge race gets underway at 2pm.

Other events taking place today include The Hits Treasure Hun at Mount Drury from 12pm to 2pm.
