Huge traffic tail backs and long delays at Paeroa are beginning to clear after a caravan lost a wheel near the intersection of State Highways 2 and 26.
The ‘old school caravan lost the wheel on the approach to the bridge over the Ohinemuri River, near mid-day, backing up traffic in all directions.
A traveller from Katikati says traffic was backed up along SH2 south from Paeroa past the meat works.

If the "thing" drops a wheel, then its not up to WOF requirement standards.... Put a bulldozer or some other machine with a bit of grunt up against it a shove it OFF THE ROAD - det the traffic moving............
Bulldozer be damed!!!!

In any non injury accident where traffic flow is paramount the road should be cleared A.S.A.P, so if there where so many people waiting why did not 10 of them just pick the relic up and move it off the road.... surely a little imagination is not that hard to come by?.
