A 23-year-old man was flown to hospital on Christmas Day after seriously injuring his ankle while playing sport on Motiti Island.

The Tauranga-based TrustPower TECT Rescue Helicopter was called to the island on Thursday afternoon.
A rescue helicopter pilot says the man was treated and flown to Tauranga Hospital for further treatment.
The helicopter was called due to the man's location on the island.

i support the heli service but a broken ankle!!! be a hard call id like to read the report
