Police have arrested a second person in relation to the death of Michael Patrick Griffin.

A 17-year-old man will be appearing in the Whangarei District Court today charged with murder.

Detective Senior Sergeant Dene Begbie says police have made significant progress in the homicide inquiry, but are still seeking witnesses and there is considerable work to do around the area inquiries.

Mr Griffin died after receiving severe head injuries.

He was found on his Second Avenue property on the morning of Sunday October 5.
