Rain forced the Greerton Lions to retire early Friday afternoon with just $420 towards their campaign to help raise $4.2 million.
The task of raising this sum, which is needed to rebuild the Cancer Society Lions Lodge in Hamilton, has been put in the hands of lions clubs throughout the Bay of Plenty, Waikato and Coromandel.

Treasurer Bill Reeves says it is a big ask of lions clubs across the region but one they are happy to do.
"You do have to keep thinking of ideas, and we have to keep raising funds for our own club too as we put a lot of money into the community. So we are really doing two lots of fund raising."
Bill believes having the fundraiser just a week after Daffodil Day did hamper the collection today as well as the rain.
"Quite a bit of money was taken out of the district last weekend, but we are still pleased."
Bill says fund raising is also harder now as people don't carry the same amount of cash in their wallets.
The club had an Ali Baba jar for people to drop money into and an outline of 'Lions Cancer Lodge' written on the pavement to place coins on. Ballance had kindly donated bags of fertiliser that were for sale for $5.
The lodge will cost just over $14 million and will accommodate about 600 people from around the region who are receiving treatment.
