Four people, including a 22-month-old and four-year-old child, escaped without injury following a two car crash on the Lower Kaimai Ranges today.
Police, St John Ambulance and firefighters from Greerton were called to the collision involving a Honda CRV and Daihatsu at the intersection of State Highway 29 and Belk Road just after midday.
Police at the scene of the crash on SH29.
Western Bay of Plenty Road Policing Manager, Senior Sergeant Ian Campion, says a 91-year-old driver of one of the vehicles failed to give way when turning out of Belk Road onto SH29.
His car collided with another vehicle driven by a woman with two children in the back seat heading west towards Hamilton.
Ian says both children – a 22-month-old and four-year-old – were both properly restrained in the back seat of the vehicle and escaped with no injuries.
The 91-year-old driver was also uninjured and no one was taken to Tauranga Hospital.
St John Ambulance were called to the site and checked the vehicle's occupants at the scene.
Both vehicles sustained damage, with the CRV crashing into an Armco barrier, and had to be towed from the scene.
Once again the message from police is clear – drive with care, pay attention to the road and give way at intersections.

With all due respect to those over 80 I must suggest that the open road is no place for you to be driving. It's a fast world for us all let alone when our faculties slow In Katikati a child was bumped last week by an elderly driver...while on a school crossing with the crossing patrol sign out!
