A man has been found dead on the side of State Highway 2 near Katikati this morning.

Tauranga Police confirmed a man died due to medical causes and police are currently at the scene.

Police on the side of SH2 where a man died of a medical condition.

Motorists reported a man lying on the side of SH2 at Sapphire Springs Road about 12.30pm.

A coroner has been called and police are not taking any further action.
