Crash at Belk Road

Emergency services were called to the crash on the highway at its intersection with Belk Road just after midday.

A blue Honda CRV crashed into an barrier on SH2 at Belk Road.

A reporter at the scene says it appears two cars have collided after one pulled out of Belk Road onto the highway.

Reduce speed limit!!

Speed limit over the kaimais should be 80kph. 100kph is ridiculous when it is wet/foggy and cars are hurtling down the hill.

speed limit most likely didn't have anything to do with this accident. see it happening all the time. pulling out of belk road into the line of traffic is the problem. there is a STOP sign end of belk road where it meets SH29. more care needed.

Dont lower the limit...

people should learn to drive to the conditions! 80km is far too slow when the conditions are good. Bad enough they lowered the area around the mount to 30km - Ridiculous over winter when no one is around. Don't change all the rules to suit the few idiots!

Most times I drive over the kaimais I have idiots that drive too fast for the conditions. Proof is the vast number of accidents over the kaimais.

100kph

100kph is not too fast on any of our roads IF the driver concentrate on driving and watch the road.Tasmania has a speed limit 110kph on roads worse than our class 2 roads.

Our road is on the council urgent list for change - as its a continual accident zone!! Quicker action needed to get rid of these blind corner intersections. With modern roading these are a rarity in 100km hr areas now, as it should be!
