All ages enjoy police open day

Children and adults alike filed through the Tauranga Police Station to take a sneak peak into the world of a police officer.

The station hosted an open day as part of the first New Zealand Police National Open Day.

The open day is about giving the community an opportunity to gain an understanding of what the modern police service looks like.

A armed police and dog demonstration was held at the Monmouth Redoubt to show just how police apprehened an uncooperative offender.

The public were able to look through the police cells today at the open day today.


Monmouth Redoubt was where the dog handling and AOS display was held.


The display was very popular with all ages.

Really wanted to go to this but had other commitments. I don't think the police get enough credit for the job they do.
