Attracting 80 more entries than last year, the 2014 event from Kulim Park to Fergusson Park saw a total 266 mothers and families take part in support of the Heart Foundation.

'We're very happy,” says organiser Jo Van Lye. '[It was a] really good vibe. Everybody was very happy to be here.”

Happening in Tauranga for the second year, the event, in support of Heart Foundation's Go Red for Women campaign, is to raise awareness of dedicated research for New Zealand women suffering from heart disease.

Jo says more fathers and children joined in on the harbourside stroll or run with their wives and mothers this year, with extra mother-daughter combos and groups of three generations.

'We had lots of groups of nana, mum and children. So that was really lovely to see.”

A large group from Mainfreight and a family of eight also slipped on a red shirt to support the cause.
