Woman hit by forklift

A 20-year-old woman is in hospital with leg injuries after being hit by a forklift at a Mount Maunganui workplace.

Police and St John Ambulance attended the workplace accident at Taura Natural Ingredients at Owens Place about 10.50am.

St John Ambulance district operations manager Jeremy Gooders says a 20 year-old woman has been transported to Tauranga Hospital with moderate injuries to her legs.

'We were called to a pedestrian patient hit by a forklift,” says Jeremy.

Tauranga Police Senior Sergeant Chris Summerville confirmed police attended a forklift accident at 16 Owens Place after receiving a call from ambulance.

Taura Natural Ingredients general manager Peter Tinholt told SunLive there was a minor workplace incident, and everything is now under control now.

The accident is now a matter for OSH.
