What’s on Today?

There are plenty of events happening in and out of Tauranga today, with many people heading to one of the biggest car shows in the North Island, the Beach Hop.

Car enthusiasts from all over the Bay of Plenty will be piling into their cars and cruising the roads to make their way to Whangamata.

People will be admiring American muscle and classic cars at the 2014 Beach Hop.

Back at home, there is plenty of action with speedway from 6.30pm at ASB Baypark.

Many people are also preparing to go off the grid for an hour tonight as they mark Earth Hour.

Tauranga City Council sustainability advisor Michelle Elbourn says this is the fifth year Tauranga has had an Earth Hour event.

'What's different this year is every effort possible is being made to minimise the impact of the event and run it ‘off the grid'.
