Road closures for triathlon

Road closures are in place for some streets in Mount Maunganui owing to the Marra Sprint Triathlon on today.

The closures in place from 6am today are Salisbury Wharf carpark, Salisbury Ave from Victoria Rd to The Mall and The Mall from Prince Ave to Adams Ave including Pilot Bay Boast Ramp. These roads are expected to reopen at 2pm today.

Road closures in place from 8am are Adams Ave from The Mall to Adams Ave, Marine Parade from Adams Avenue to Oceanbeach Rd, Prince Ave from The Mall to Victoria Rd roundabout and Victoria Rd from Prince Ave to Salisbury Ave.

These roads are expected to reopen at 12pm today.

The triathlon sees participants complete a 750m swim in Pilot Bay, 20km cycle and 5km run around the base track of Mauao.

The following roads will be closed from 6.00am to 2.00pm:

  • Salisbury Wharf carpark - the entire carparking area
  • Salisbury Avenue - from Victoria Road to The Mall
  • The Mall - from Prince Avenue to Adams Avenue including the Pilot Bay Boat Ramp

The following roads will be closed from 8.00am to 12.00pm :

  • Adams Avenue - from The Mall to Adams Avenue
  • Marine Parade - from Adams Avenue to Oceanbeach Road
  • Prince Avenue - from The Mall to Victoria Road roundabout
  • Victoria Road - from Prince Avenue to Salisbury Avenue

how easy is it to close roads for so many "events"?, as I thought I may apply to close my end of the street next week, as I am holding a party and may require parking for my guests, who pays who?.

You can apply to the council for a road closure if you wish & pay your fee to do so just like everyone else does
