Labour Party leader David Cunliffe and members of the party's shadow cabinet will visit Tauranga on Monday to hear from community members on the region.
Organised by Tauranga Labour candidate Dr Rachel Jones, the members of the opposition will arrive in town early Monday for a full day of meetings with business leaders, council and iwi.
Labour leader David Cunliffe on a visit to Tauranga in October last year.
While individual MPs regularly visit the region to discuss their portfolios, Rachel says this is the first time the team has visited en-masse.
Rachel says she invited the MPs to the Bay of Plenty because it was important the next Cabinet understands how the region has developed in the last few years.
'Labour's renewed focus on the regions and regional development highlights just how much Tauranga has grown and the significantcontribution it makes to New Zealand's economy.
'It also puts the spotlight on the effect that the current government's policies are having on low and middle income earners in regional New Zealand.
'I am delighted that David Cunliffe accepted our invitation and is bringing his team with him. This is a real opportunity to put local issues in front of the people who will potentially be making the big decisions in our country over the next few years.”
Rachel is keen to hear from local voters on what they would like Labour MPs to know about the area.
