What’s on Today?

The rain may have put a grey blanket over Tauranga today but there is still plenty to do in the city.

There are markets for people to get their hands on a bargain, as well as the Whakataetae Kapa Haka o Mataatua competition at ASB Baypark.

The pinnacle of junior surf lifesaving will see more than 800 competitors battle it out in the last two days of the Oceans' 14.

The annual Under-14 New Zealand Surf Life Saving Championships will see a total of 852 competitors aged 10 14-years-old take part in the last two days of the surf carnival today and tomorrow.

The Kidz Need Dadz fishing competition is also happening done at The Strand reclamation today.

Organisers are hoping for a family day of smiles and fun, where kids up to 12 years of age, can bait up and try their luck at catching the longest fish on the day.

The contest will get underway from 10am to 12pm.
