It will be on display at Creative Tauranga from 9am tomorrow for a week until Friday, February 21.
City Care National Maintenance general manager Tim Gibson is delighted to support the Hairy Maclary and Friends Tauranga Waterfront Sculpture Project.
'The opportunity to support this project and the literary work of Lynley Dodd was just too good of an opportunity to pass up.
'We are really proud to be the name supporter of this project. I think this will be good for Tauranga. It would be a really good way to get children involved in literature. ”
Tim says he read the popular children's book when he was young and his children are now reading it to their nieces and nephews.
'Love Bottomly Potts. I just think we need a Donaldson's Dairy nearby so we can go and buy an ice cream.”
Tim says it's fitting for the City Care brand to be cast in bronze alongside Dame Lynley Dodd's beloved characters, as they have a proud history of looking after many of New Zealand's iconic environments.
Creative Tauranga's chief executive Tracey Rudduck-Gudsell is thrilled with the substantial donation to the project.
'I have been walking on air ever since I got the news that City Care wanted to support the Hairy Maclary project.
'The gift is a fabulous boost to the project and we are very proud to welcome them as a Foundation Partner of the project and to the project family.
'This is not just about a sculpture for our waterfront. It's a legacy public art project for our city and our country and one that we know will bring pleasure to children of all ages for a very long time.”
A further $211,000 is needed to fund the remainder of the $800,000 project of eight statues that are expected to be completed by Easter.

This is just another TCC appendage that receives way to much money from TCC ratepayers. Despite TCC's decision that Creative Tauranga have to raise there own money and that nothing would be paid ex ratepayers coffers this would tend to fly in the face of that.
They both!!!
