Nestled in the southernmost wine region of the world is Central Otago, where you will find the Nanny Goat vineyards. It features alpine mountains to the west, rocky ranges to the south and dry tussock covered hills to the east.
The 2008 Nanny Goat Pinot Noir is fresh and lively, medium bodied with great fruit intensity. It has a distinctive varietal cherry and red fruits, with earthy notes. It is balanced well with spicy oak and has great texture and length.
Best of all, this lovely wine would be a perfect match for you to serve when the ducks come home this weekend. The memory of plucking them in my kitchen sink comes flooding back to me. I really do not want that job this year, it rates right up there with asparagus planting.
Grab a bottle of this lovely Nanny Goat Pinot and dust off your Peking duck recipe. Enjoy!
