Tauranga soprano Sharon Elizabeth launches her new CD featuring songs from her one-woman show Forget Me Not, with a cabaret performance at Alimento on April 24.
Sharon created Forget Me Not early last year. She describes her as a beguiling, deliciously naughty flapper and singer on the London nightclub scene in the 1920s.
"She fell into cabaret life after her parents inconveniently cut off her allowance due to her general misbehaviour and scandalous love affairs," says Sharon.
The CD includes original cabaret songs written for Sharon by English composer Paul Lewis such as Soprano in the Shower, Forget-Me-Not and Join the Sister Hood as well as covers of popular songs from the era such as Lover Come Back to Me, Indian Love Call, It's a Sin to Tell a Lie, Charmaine, and Begin the Beguine.
The album was recorded in Tauranga in February at Colourfield Recording studio with Tim Julian.
The cabaret show will feature songs from the album plus Sharon Elizabeth favourites.
Doors open 7.30pm, show starts 8pm.
Tickets cost $15 and can be reserved by emailing [email protected] or purchased at the door.
