SunLive Dog Point Chardonnay Competition

The 2007 Dog Point Chardonnay is a chablis look-alike chardonnay, with concentrated lime and petrichor has lovely notes of peach, pear and apricots coupled with a very subtle taste of integrated new oak.

Dog Point Vineyard is located in Marlborough. The vineyard combines the huge winegrowing experience of Ivan Sutherland and James Healy, former chief viticulturalist and head winemaker for Cloudy Bay.
The name Dog Point comes from the earliest European settlement of Marlborough and the introduction of sheep to the district. Days of few fences, boundary riders and boundary keeping dogs. Shepherd's dogs sometimes became lost or wandered off, and bred into a marauding pack which sometimes attacked the local flocks. Their home was a tussock and scrub covered hill, overlooking the Wairau Plains, named by the early settlers as Dog Point.
