For over 10 years Nautilus Estate has focused on producing a premium pinot noir from the Marlborough region. The majority of the fruit used comes from two specialised pinot noir vineyards on the clay slopes of the Wairau Valley's southern side.
In addition, small parcels are grown on the intensively managed sites in the Awatere Valley and the Wairau Valley floor – with each site adding specific characteristics to the regional blend.
The product of this Nautilus Marlborough Pinot Noir 2008 is a lovely dark ruby colour, with aromas of wild raspberries, plums and spice. There is a lovely sweetness across the palate with a long warm finish. While this is a lovely drop now, the primary fruit components will certainly develop over the next five years.
