Family rescues injured jet skier

Police are crediting the actions of a family member who successfully brought an injured jet skier back to shore and raised the alarm after an accident off Hot Water Beach.

The accident happened yesterday afternoon just after 1pm.

Sergeant Brendon Bland says a 34-year-old man failed to navigate a wave and became airborne.

"The man was thrown into the air and come back down, back first on to his jet-ski.

"A relative out on the water on another jet-ski has managed to bring the injured man to shore and the alarm has been raised with the victim taken by ambulance to hospital with back injuries."

Brendon says the incident highlighted the value of going out on the water with another person so, if a situation arises, help is at hand.
