The second day of the Tauranga Boat Expo and On The Water Festival is proving more popular than the first with thousands of people coming to explore the marine wonderland.

Event manager Dahna Jefferes-Bozinovitch says the day is fantastic and the weather is brilliant.

She says today's numbers are better today than they were yesterday for the three day event.

'The on the water activities are fantastic and making a lot of noise and a big splash.

'We have a jet boat here today and tomorrow we will have two.” Dahna says there are a lot of families coming to the expo today.

'Families are coming down to enjoy the children's activities and we have heaps of food, so there is plenty for everyone.

'The pontoons have been a big hit this year; we have some big name boats and some luxurious boats down on the pontoons so you can get a feel for them and what they are like in the water.” On top of that, Wish for Fish has a really big area and are doing some fundraising activities.

'It's always good to help out the charities.

'Coastguard has a huge display. There's just plenty for everyone.”

Tomorrow the Boopbops will be training out on the water first thing in the morning and the Tauranga Yacht Club will be racing out in the harbour.

Dahna says there will be about 20 boats on the water from about 1pm.

'There will also be some free jet ski rides and more jet boat demonstrations.”

The expo costs $5 per adult and children enter free.
