It is trainer Gai Waterhouse's first Melbourne Cup victory, and a thrilling win for jockey Damien Oliver.

EARLIER TODAY: Melbourne Cup fever is spreading through Tauranga City today as residents gear up for the 153rd running of the world's richest handicap.
Office sweepstakes are flourishing, racing experts are revelling in offering advice, and fascinators are all the rage – it must be Melbourne Cup Day.
The stage is set for the race that stops two nations, as the countdown to race time at 5pm begins. Bets are being placed and bars are preparing for a busy day and night.
Last year's winner Green Moon is among the 24 horses running in this year's cup. Another win would make it the sixth horse to win multiple Melbourne Cups.
Tauranga CBD bar Rehab expects 90 per cent of its business today will be through its TAB, as hundreds of central city once-a-year gamblers place their bets on the Melbourne Cup.
Other bars along The Strand are also getting into the race day spirit – dusting off the big screens, and dressing the buildings.
People leave work early to go and watch the 5pm race in salubrious surroundings, and people are late home because they go and watch the race.
Tauranga Citizens Club has sold seating at corporate tables and is hoping for 250-300 people to share in their fun which includes a Flemington-style best dressed competition – and a courtesy van to take the punters home – whether they have been celebrating a win or drowning their sorrows.
