Poor weather conditions have forced organisers of the Kidz Need Dadz Fishing and Fun Day to postpone the event to next year.
The competition was due to take place at The Strand Reclamation today but organiser Reagan Douglas say they have decided to put the event off until February 22.
The Kidz Need Dadz Fishing and Fun Day has been postponed until next year.
He says all parents know how important it is to spend quality time with their children at a safe and fun filled event.
'We were expecting lots of children at this event with the first 50 families registering receiving a free tackle pack.”
Reagan says children will now have to wait until February to find out who will catch the longest fish.
The Harbour Master and crew and Red Cross will be on hand next year to ensure safety is maintained.
Entry forms for the competition are available from Hamills, Tauranga Hunting and Fishing NZ, Top Catch and DeCoro as well as from Kidz Need Dadz Office at 538 Fraser St
