Search for knifepoint Mobil robber

Police investigating last night's armed hold-up at the Mobil service station on Chapel St are speaking with a number of people but do not have a confirmed suspect at this stage.

At about 8.15pm a man walked into the service station and presented a knife to the sole attendant at the counter.

CCTV footage of the man police are looking for in relation to the armed robbery.

Detective Sergeant Nigel Grey says the man demanded cash when he presented the knife.

'The attendant cooperated and handed a quantity of money to the offender, who then walked out the door with it.

'He [the offender] is described as a male Caucasian, in his early 20s, of medium height and medium build. He was dressed in a dark coloured, long sleeve hoodie, with Adidas on the back. He had black jeans, with black and white shoes, and dark coloured beanie and sunglasses.”

No one was injured during the hold-up, says Nigel.
