Still waiting: Race 14 postponed

Update: 9:33AM Delays are still frustrating Tauranga residents as today's America's Cup action has been postponed.

Supporters will now have to wait until tomorrow to see if Emirates Team New Zealand can bring home the America's Cup.

The delayed start to race 14 of the 2013 America's Cup was on hold until 9.40am today but has now been postponed until tomorrow.

This is the latest time the race can be pushed back to and means race 14 has been abandoned.

Emirates Team New Zealand is still on match point after the first race yesterday timing-out and Oracle taking a win in the second race.

Although Tauranga Yacht and Power Boat Club vice commodore Nigel Rippey was 'really frustrated” with yesterday's race timing out and Oracle taking a race 13 win - he is putting on his red socks again for tomorrow's race in support of Team NZ.

'We were hoping to finalise it this morning but it's again a pretty frustrating day. So all we can do is hope for it tomorrow morning and come back and do it all again. (We'll) put the red socks back on and same place, same time I guess.”

Despite continuous delays in bringing home the cup, Nigel says the 'drawn out” process has shown just how much public interest there is.

'It's got to be good for yacht clubs and yachting. It's generating a lot of interest with people who don't necessarily think about sailing. For us, sailors and yacht clubs, I think it's a great thing.”
