Tauranga militaria collector Dave Cross and his colleagues have been asking the public to help unearth items and stories in an attempt to collect as many WW1 memorabilia for the Century anniversary next year.
Items of interest so far collected are being displayed at the Greerton Hall on Saturday and Sunday.
Collectors are working with the Tauranga WW100 organising committee, to help collect items to be displayed in a mobile ‘museum' to travel around the region from 2014 – 2018.

Dave has collected military memorabilia since his youth and is sharing some of his prize mementoes at the show this weekend.
One of Dave's reminders included his grandfather Eric Cross' service revolver. Eric was one of the ‘royal engineers' who served in the first world war.
Tauranga resident Tony Fraser's mementoes are also being displayed. Tony's great uncle served in the first world war and he is proud to see some of his badges and woven bags on display.
'It keeps the memory of him alive.”
It also remembers those soldiers who fought in vain for our country during the war, says Tony.
The militaria show runs at Greerton Hall 9am-4pm Saturday and 9am-3pm Sunday. The show includes displays of firearms, Japanese swords, books, medals and other military collectibles.
