Bay: NZ ice cream capital

Bay of Plenty is the ice cream capital of New Zealand with population adjusted figures showing that more of it is consumed in the region than in any other.
Second place from Tip Top's statistics is Nelson/Marlborough and in third is Manawatu/Taranaki.


Bethlehem Four Square is selling ice cream for $1 a scoop on Sunday, October 25.

Adjusted on a per capita basis, 6.34 scoops were eaten per person in the Bay of Plenty, 6.31 per person in Nelson/Marlborough and 6.28 per person in Manawatu/Taranaki in the last year.
In total Bay of Plenty devoured 1.7 million scoops, Nelson Nelson/Marlborough 856,000, and Manawatu/Taranaki 2.1 million scoops.
This from a total of 17.1 million scoops of Tip Top ice cream in a cone sold from neighbourhood dairies, parlours and food stores.
To encourage ice cream eating this summer, Labour Weekend is Tip Top Ice Cream's $1 a scoop ice cream weekend.

On Monday: Cambridge Heights, the Mid Town Mini Mall, Pier One at Mount Maunganui.
