Drug accused admits guilt

A 21-year-old woman will be sentenced in October after today admitting to manufacturing P from her Arataki home.

Jessica Caulfield appeared in Tauranga District Court today where she pleaded guilty to having equipment/material with intent, procuring and possessing methamphetamine and producing/manufacturing methamphetamine/amphetamine.

Caulfield was arrested following a police raid on properties in Arataki and Welcome Bay in November last year.

More than 50 police staff from Tauranga and Rotorua, firefighters and Hazmat teams swooped on the two Tauranga suburbs on November 28 executing search warrants at three properties suspected of being P-labs.

Forklift operator Shaun Jacob McDonald, 24, labourer, Isaac Kilby, 27, and Troy Kakau, 31, bank officer, were also arrested during the raids.

McDonald is facing four charges, Kilby is facing 20 charges and Kakau faces 13 drug charges including having equipment/material with intent, procuring and possessing methamphetamine/amphetamine and producing/manufacturing methamphetamine/amphetamine.

The accused appeared in court on Friday, July 19, where they entered not guilty pleas to the charges.

All three are on bail for a call-over date set for September 12. A sentence indication hearing will be held for McDonald on August 12.

Caulfield will be back in court on August 22 where an October sentencing date will be set.
