Mount Sports Centre will morph into a fight zone tonight, Saturday night, July 25, for the New Zealand Thai Boxing Association title fight.

The super cruiser weight (86-90kg) title bout is the headline fight for Muay Thai Mayhem - a fight night organised by Tauranga's Brent Maharey.
Brent is a Thai boxing trainer for Red Dragon Thai Boxing and Ocean Blue Health Club. He decided to organise Muay Thai Mayhem after a fight night organised by another Tauranga promoter was cancelled in May.
'We were training for that and all my guys were gutted they had trained and had no competition,” says Brent.
He says Saturday's event is the first Thai boxing fight night to be held at the Mount in over a decade.
Seven Red Dragon Thai Boxing students will represent Papamoa at the event, including Sun Media's own Graham Hoete, aka Mr G.
Tauranga's Dark Angels and Rogue Angels clubs are also fielding fighters, as are clubs from Rotorua, Hamilton, Whakatane, Wellington and Palmerston North.
There will be three female fights, with Tauranga's Sarah Rankin and Jocelin August among the female fighters.
The title fight will be conducted under full Thai boxing rules, which means fighters can punch, kick, knee and elbow each other. Only highly skilled Thai boxers are allowed to use elbows when fighting - all other fighters competing on the night must not use elbows.
The title fight is five two-minute rounds; all other fights are three two-minute rounds.
Mountt Maunganui Sport Centre is on the corner of Maunganui and Hull roads. Doors open 6pm, fights start 7pm. Tickets $20 from Ocean Blue Health Club or at the door.
