Armed robbery at Coin Save

Police are investigating an armed robbery of a Coin Save store in Ngongotaha after a man stole cash at gunpoint.

Police say the owner of the store was confronted by an alleged offender who pointed a pistol at him.

Acting Detective Senior Sergeant Tony Colby says the alleged offender managed to get away with an undisclosed amount of money around 12pm on Tuesday.

'He was seen running over the Ngongotaha Stream bridge and into the stream reserve behind the Ngongotaha Domain after the robbery.”

The alleged offender is described as a male Maori, of average build and around 175cm tall.

Tony says he was wearing a three quarter length shorts, a balaclava, a black sleeveless vest with a red or maroon top underneath and sports shoes.

'Police would like to hear from anyone who may have been in this area at the time and witnessed this incident, or anyone in the community who may have information about this.”
