Tauranga yacht Squealer has limped safely to port in Fiji, after being dismasted in the race from Auckland.
All crew on board Squealer are safe and sound after being dismasted in the race.
All crew are reported safe and sound, after the yacht's rig came down about a day from the finish line, at Musket Cove.
The Royal NZ Yacht Squadron reports the yacht became the third boat to be forced to retire from the Auckland to Musket Cove Ocean race when it lost its rig around 6pm on Saturday.
'All the crew members are safe, they have retrieved the rig, there is no structural damage to the boat,” according to the squadron website.
A jury rig was set up with the remains of the mast and the boat was reported to have motor-sailed the final 50 nautical miles to the finish.
Squealer was the smallest boat to start the race. The yacht left NZ at 12pm on June 1.
All seven of the boat's owners, all long-time sailors, were on board.
