Matt Bodman's voice is sometimes reminiscent of Chris Martin from Coldplay on this, his first album release. That is neither a bad thing, nor a good thing. It just is.

Coldplay's influence is evident on several tracks from Matt Bodman and The Valentine Grind's first CD, and the next strongest influence I could hear was of Greg Johnson. It is clear from the lyrics here that Matt is a storyteller style of composer.
