Building boats, for a future

Construction of the Tauranga marine precinct could begin before the end of the year, says Priority One's business development manager Richard Kinzett.
Expressions of interest in the estimated $20 million project were officially called for this week and Richard says Priority One has already received some informal enquiries.

See below for video of Richard Kinzett explaining the Tauranga marine precinct project.

If they come to fruition, construction could start in the next seven months, or early next year.
The Harbour Central Marine Precinct initiative intends to develop a marine business park on 5.1ha of land near the Tauranga harbour bridge. It would include the former Baigent's site and land currently occupied by Hutcheson Boat Builders.
"The initiative has been designed to attract the multi-billion dollar international marine industry to the region," says Priority One CEO Andrew Coker.
"Working in tandem with Auckland and Whangarei, it is likely we could bring more vessels and super yachts from the Northern Hemisphere, consolidating New Zealand's reputation as the world's premier boat building and marine refit destination."
Expression of interest responses are to be submitted by May 31, 2010.
