A beachfront Pāpāmoa home built by a local building company has been crowned the Bay of Plenty and Central Plateau’s supreme house of 2026.
Mount Maunganui-based architectural builders Calley Homes won Supreme House of the Year at the 2026 Bay of Plenty and Central Plateau House of the Year Awards held in Rotorua on Saturday night.
It was also awarded the Mitre 10 Trade Craftsmanship Award, won the New Home over $4 million category, and the Renovation over $2m category for a Mount Maunganui home.
More than 200 homes were entered into the regional Master Builders House of the Year Awards.
One hundred homes proceed to a round of national judging for the National House of the Year awards in November.
The judges celebrated the Pāpāmoa residence for transforming a challenging coastal site into an exceptional place to live.

In a statement, the judges said: “Three carefully composed building forms create a sequence of light-filled indoor and outdoor spaces that respond beautifully to the surrounding dunes, while a striking glazed atrium delivers a memorable sense of arrival and sets the tone for the home beyond”.
“Despite its impressive scale, the home sits effortlessly within the landscape, with a restrained palette of natural materials and thoughtful planting softening the connection between architecture and environment.
“Around a sheltered central courtyard, spaces have been carefully arranged to balance lively entertaining with quiet retreat, while exceptional craftsmanship and technical skill are evident in every detail. The result is a home that achieves a complete, cohesive vision, making it a deserving recipient of the Supreme Award.”

“Delivered within a demanding construction programme, the project called for exceptional collaboration and creative problem-solving to bring its ambitious design to life.”
Waihī Beach’s Reside Construction was awarded the Supreme Renovation of the Year Award and the Renovation $1m to $2m category for a Waihī Beach home.
The judges’ comments said: “Respecting the past while embracing the future, this exceptional renovation breathes new life into a cherished New Zealand bach without losing the character that made it special“.
