A 62-year-old woman is in custody following a fleeing driver incident in Tauranga this morning.

Police spotted a vehicle of interest on Hewletts Rd about 8.30am and signalled for it to stop.

Police said the driver allegedly failed to comply and fled.

“Police abandoned a pursuit due to the manner of driving, but kept observations of the vehicle.

“A short time later, the driver stopped at the intersection with Cameron Rd and 13th Ave, where they were taken into custody.”

Police said the woman is due to appear in Tauranga District Court at a later date, facing charges including failing to stop, resisting police, assaulting police and criminal harassment.
