On 17 February 2026, Maru passed away peacefully at home in Matapihi aged 80 years.
Maru was much loved and respected by his whanau and friends.
A Tangi for Maru, will be held at 10:00am, on Saturday 21 February 2026, at Whakaue Marae, 721 Maketu Road, Maketu, followed by burial at Whakaue Cemetery, 51 Spencer Avenue, Maketu.
Maru is now laying in state, at Whakaue Marae, for anyone that wishes to pay their respects.
