Chipsealing works planned for State Highway 36 this weekend have been postponed.

"We were ready to seal the deal this Valentine’s weekend, but the weather doesn’t want to commit," NZ Transport Agency said.

"The work will now take place next weekend, Saturday, February 21, and Sunday, February 22, between 7am and 7pm, on the 2km section between the SH36/Kennedy Road and SH36/Pyes Pa roundabouts.

"Daytime works, traffic management and delays should be expected."

A 2km section of SH36, between the SH36/Kennedy Road roundabout and the SH36/Pyes Pā roundabout, will be chipsealed.

The work will be undertaken during daytime hours due to the proximity of nearby homes, NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi (NZTA) said in a statement.

“The level of noise would be too disruptive for local residents for overnight works."
