Tauranga Moana Manu Champs is back on December 13 – and is set to transform the city’s waterfront into a high-energy hub of live beats, good vibes, and massive splash action.
Now in its third year, Tauranga Moana Manu Champs has cemented its place as a summer highlight, and for the second year running it’s an official qualifier for the Z Manu World Champs.
Free to enter and open to ages eight-plus, the day kicks off with the crowd-favourite Push Play session, where anyone can have a go in a safe and supportive space – no experience needed.
Then it’s game on with four heats: Manu Adults for those 18-plus, Manu Youth for ages 13-17, Manu Kids for ages eight-12 – then Freestyle for anyone eight-plus who can show off any bomb style other than a Manu.

The stakes? First and second place in both Manu and Freestyle divisions earn a spot at the Z Manu World Champs Grand Final in Auckland on March 14, 2026.
Here you’ll go Manu for Manu against the best across Aotearoa to take the ultimate title of Z Manu World Champion plus a share of $40,000 in cash and prizes.
“It’s more than a summer event – it’s a celebration of local talent, culture and community spirit,” said Tauranga City councillor Rod Taylor.
There are no pre-registrations – just show up and sign up on the day. Whether you’re jumping, cheering, or soaking up the vibes, bring your crew and get amongst it!
Tauranga Moana Manu Champs is December 13 from 11.30am-4.45pm at Tauranga Waterfront, and is free to enter. For more details, visit: whatsontauranga.co.nz
