Update 8.38am: a police spokeswoman says the traffic is clearing after a nose-to-tail crash on Mangatapu Bridge.
"There may be some backlog while traffic clears, but it is moving now," she said.
The 8.20am crash did not cause any significant injuries and the cars had been removed from the road.
A Hato Hone St John spokesperson said they were notified of a motor vehicle incident on SH29A, Maungatapu, at 8.15am.
"One ambulance responded.
"Two patients, both in minor condition, were assessed and treated at the scene (no transport required)."
Initial report 8.20am: Reports are coming in of a crash causing traffic delays on the Mangatapu Bridge.
A caller to the 0800 SUNLIVE news hotline says two vehicles have crashed on the bridge.
Both lanes are reported to be blocked.
People are being advised to avoid the area until the crash is cleared.
