Her single ‘Wake Up' is a message to herself to make the most of life. She says this new, honest approach makes her music stronger.

'It helps me feel better when I write a song about what's going on in my life and I get to vent in the best way possible through music.

'Honesty is best and in my opinion much more interesting than singing about something I can't relate to.”

Aaradhna says she can't wait to visit Tauranga with the summer tour.

'I know it's going to be super fun with summer skies and live-music; I just know it's going to be a good time.

'I've been to Tauranga, it was a long, long time ago for a gig with the brothers Adeaze and their band, I had an awesome time there and looking forward to coming back.”

Aaradhna began to struggle with life and pulled away from the limelight following her first album in 2006, featuring ‘Getting Stronger' performed with Adeaze.

'From late 2006 onwards my heart was not in the right place and I started to feel depressed about certain things in my life.

'I kind of just quit the music scene and just stayed at my mum and dad's house doing nothing but eating, drinking just being a depressed couch potato until mid-2008, when I went to Romania with my partner, who was playing basketball over there.

'I had a lot of time on my hands. I was still trying to find out what I really wanted to do in life.”

It was not until she posted clips on YouTube Aaradhna realised she still had a following and she decided to make a comeback.

Seeking inspiration from Amy Winehouse, the new album takes on a whole new style than her first.

'Since I had all of this free time and space, I had the time to explore music-wise. Amy Winehouse's ‘Back to Black' helped me embrace the old school sound a whole lot more, and I started to dig deeper and was listening more to all these old greats such as Ruth Brown, Otis Redding, LaVern Baker, Patsy Cline, Millie Small, a bunch of doo-wop groups and so many more awesome old school cats.

'After a while everything I was writing started sounding a lot more like the stuff that I was listening to.”

When she isn't making music, Aaradhna spends quality time with her fiancé, family, friends and her dog Rucker.

'Usually I'm in Wellington, my home town, whenever I'm free. I like to take my dog for walks down by the river, or play some basketball at the cage or wherever we can find a hoop, or stay indoors and watch DVDs – mainly horrors and comedies.”
