Whether it’s biking, boating, or driving, Ōmokoroa is on the move – and Western Bay of Plenty District Council is inviting the community to join them for the latest updates.

On Tuesday June 10, an ‘Ōmokoroa Community Update’ event will be held at the Ōmokoroa Sports Pavillion, between 4.30pm and 6.30pm.

The informal, drop-in event is a chance for people to get updates on key projects, ask questions, and speak directly with Council staff, elected members, Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency and contractors HEB and Higgins.

Topics and projects include:

  • State Highway 2 and Ōmokoroa Road intersection upgrade
  • Ōmokoroa Road improvements
  • Tangimoana Bridge (Heartwood Ave)
  • Wāhi o Waipapa Wetland
  • Prole Road urbanisation
  • Industrial Road and pond
  • Tauranga Northern Link (TNL) Stage 2
  • Future cycleways and walkways
  • Ōmokoroa Domain marine and boating facilities consultation

“We’ve got some big projects underway in Ōmokoroa,” said Council’s Infrastructure and Growth Manager, Annelie Badenhorst.

“It’s important that the community stays informed about the things impacting them and feels part of the process. This event gives people the chance to kōrero (talk) face to face with those delivering the work and understand the bigger picture for Ōmokoroa."

The Ōmokoroa Community Update will be held on Tuesday June 10 2025, from 4.30pm – 6.30pm, at Ōmokoroa Sports Pavillion, Activity Space (Western Ave)
