Missing boat ‘just sickening’

Giving up his love for the sea is a sickening feeling for commercial fisherman Mike Antrobus.

Mike, the owner of commercial fishing boat ‘Star Trek', is still coming to grips with the disappearance of his boat last week.

Mike Antrobus's boat ‘Star Trek' is still missing after it was last sighted on Monday night.

The 33ft wooden hull Carey style boat, worth about $60,000 - $70,000, was last seen on Monday, December 10. It was discovered missing from its mooring in Pilot Bay on Tuesday night.

Mike, the owner the boat for the past eight years, says the disappearance has left him with no will to get back on the water.

'I don't feel like going to sea anymore and I feel sick over the whole incident. I'll be lucky if I own another boat again. ”

Mike still has a couple of years to go before the boat is paid off so he will be replacing one of his outgoing workers rather than finding a potential replacement right before Christmas.

'I'm probably quite lucky we have another fishing contract and have other workers doing that. It basically means I will have to get rid of one of them. It's not what I wanted to be doing.”

If anyone has information about the boat they can contact Tauranga Police on 577 4300 or contact Mike on 027 5306876.

Please, no more jokes about 'beaming up' scotty or 'star trek' etc. This is not a joke nor is it funny. Some low life has stolen this mans boat that he needs for his livelihood. Somebody knows something so speak up and tell the Police. Good luck Mr Antrobus.

Just when I was starting to enjoy your rational postings you have returned to the masses, lighten up, most of us know what he is going through, and wish him the speedy return of his livlihood, but as another posting has stated, the boat is a "gill netter"!!!!, but that is not up to me to judge, but a Tauranga families recent court issues with false statements on catch returns, does make you wonder about how enterprising some fisherman are, and is there another agenda at play here?.
