Time is running out to register to be part of history as The Edge undresses the first days of summer with a world-record breaking skinny-dip attempt in Papamoa this weekend.
On Sunday, December 2 more than 400 Bay of Plenty residents are wanted to run naked into the water in an effort to break the world record for the greatest number of people to skinny dip at a single venue.
The event is expected to take place around 2pm at Harrison's Cut beach in Papamoa.
The Edge marketing manager Emily Hancox says only 120 people have registered for the world record attempt, although there has been a large on air interest with people calling the radio station saying they will attend.
'We have had some interest from some local nudist groups.”
Emily says the only registered entries will be counted towards the official world record number.
According to The Guinness Book of World Records, the current world record was achieved by a mid-summer skinny dip in South Wales in the United Kingdom on June 19 last year.
The skinny dip was attempted by a total of 413 people.
The Edge has $1000 cash to give away to a lucky entrant thanks to Plumb In Bathrooms who are sponsoring the event.
