One person is in a critical condition following a vehicle crash in South Waikato.

Police are responding to a two-vehicle crash involving a motorbike on Lawrence Street near Taupiri Street, Te Kuiti.

Police say the crash was reported around 1.15pm.

"One person is in a critical condition and a helicopter is enroute," says a police spokesperson.

"The Serious Crash Unit has been advised."

The road is blocked and diversions are in place at the intersections of Lawrence Street, SH30 and Taupiri Street.

Motorists are advised to expect delays.
