Fast cars and fireworks are set to entertain all ages tonight as people take to BayPark for some speedway action.
Organisers of the event promise it will be bigger and better than ever, after last year's extravaganza was cancelled so it would impact on the oiled wildlife being treated at a nearby facility.
Organisers say there will be something for everyone with a full night of family fun planned.
Speedway manager Roger Bailey says the event has always been a big meeting with pyrotechnics for the night 'going to be awesome”.
'It's done by the people who put on the Rugby World Cup display so we are expecting a great show.”
Roger is expecting a big crowd at the meeting, which will see top racers from around the country and beyond spicing up the speedway competition. He is picking Saturday's racing as one of the highlights on the season's calendar.
Gates open at 5pm, with racing starting at 6.30pm.
Other events happening in the Western Bay of Plenty include a walk to raise money for the Royal New Zealand Foundation for the Blind, a car boot sale in Papamoa and the Tauranga Farmers' Market.
