A man at the centre of a standoff in a Coromandel bank yesterday appeared in the Hamilton District Court today in connection with the incident.

Detective Sergeant Martyn Hughes of the Thames-Coromandel CIB says the 53-year-old man appeared on one charge of attempted aggravated robbery and one charge of wilful damage.

"Our enquiries into what caused the incident are continuing and we would like to thank all those people who have helped the enquiry team with their investigations.”
